His Story – The Gospel Story

Jesus came to rescue the world. Rescue the world from what? One word. Sin. Sin which leads to death. I believe just as the Bible states; God created the world and all that is in it and that it was good. Key word: was.

Sin entered the world when man was deceived and chose to believe the lie of Satan rather than God’s way. Genesis 3:6 “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Sin resulted in separation from God and the fulfillment of His plan, His plan for each of us to truly live. Until……

John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son”

As I consider then my own sin, the sin of all mankind, the sin we commit daily it takes me to one of my favorite verses. In recognition of my own sin and the battle that occurs daily, my heart cries similarly here, yet there is an answer!

Romans 7: “21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

He delivers, He rescues us to truly live once again according to his good, pleasing and perfect will.

A Rescued Identity.
